The Richelieu Wing on the north side of the Louvre, with equestrian statue of Louis XIV in the foreground. The original statue was sculpted of marble by Bernini (1673); this is a lead copy made in the 20th century. Most of the present palace dates from the 16th-century renovations of King Francois I and Henry IV.
