Title
Ambo, c.1110: Balustrade Relief
Caption
Relief on the north balustrade of the marble ambo, made in the early 12th century (some sources say 1110, others 1143) and reconstructed after the roof collapsed in 1196. This is the only part of the balustrade that survived the roof collapse. The upper relief depicts a sacred meal, probably the Last Supper (without Judas), but possibly the Agape meal. Sant'Ambrogio Basilica, Milan, Italy.
