Ambo Detail (c.1110): Atlant
Detail of atlant (telamon) figure, possibly representing Daniel in the Lions' Den, on the southwest corner of the marble ambo. The ambo was made in the early 12th century (some sources say 1110, others 1143) and reconstructed after the roof collapsed in 1196. The Lombard Romanesque sculptures illustrate the themes of sin and redemption. Sant'Ambrogio Basilica, Milan, Italy.
