Ruins of the west guest houses of Fountains Abbey, built in 1160. They are rare survivals of English medieval domestic architecture in stone. These houses were used by the abbey's patrons, the nobility and wool merchants. The 15th-century bell tower of the abbey church can be seen in the background.
